Home Support Services

Following an evaluation and according to eligibility criteria to receive these services, home support services are offered to individuals with temporary or permanent impairments, such as persons with loss of autonomy associated with aging, people with physical disabilities, people who are in recovery, people who are suffering from a chronic illness (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart failure, AIDS, etc.), or people who are in the end-stages of life. 

 

These services can include nursing, psychosocial, medical, rehabilitation and nutrition, and home support services for activities of daily living, as well as palliative care, bereavement support and caregiver services.

The following are a few of the homecare services offered:

 

Medical and Nursing Care Services

Check-ups, medical follow-up, flu shots, lab tests, dressing changes, antibiotic therapy, family and client education regarding a specific illness.  

 

Occupational Therapy Services

Evaluation of home adaptations and equipment required for each client including those physically disabled.

 

Physiotherapy Services

Evaluation and re-education, physiotherapy at home, family instruction.  

 

Nutrition Services 

Assessment and recommendations to maintain or improve the nutritional state in order to improve quality of life, as well as to treat certain nutritional problems which can worsen the state of health. 

 

Social Services

Psychosocial assessment and recommendations to maintain and improve the individual’s well-being in relation to their living environment.  Listening services and psychosocial support for patients and their families in certain circumstances. Accompaniment  with the procedures for public temporary or permanent residences within the network, advocating for human rights and relationship with community organizations. 

 

Home Care

Personal hygiene, meal preparation, education, moral support. 

Domestic Help

Housekeeping services are available to people 65 and over at a variable rate, based on family income through Quebec's Financial Assistance Program for Domestic Help Services. 

 

With a referral from the HSSC, people under 65 who require domestic help following surgery or as a result of an illness, or any other incapacity may also benefit from Quebec's Financial Assistance Program for Domestic Help Services. This program makes it possible for people to obtain affordable domestic help while supporting a local company.

Caregivers

The Caregiver Program is offered by the Vigi Dollard-des-Ormeaux Day Centre in collaboration with the CLSC de Pierrefonds. 

 

You are taking care of a person with a loss of autonomy and sometimes feel: 

• Hopeless

• Alone

• Guilty 

• Overburdened 

 

The Vigi Dollard-des-Ormeaux Day Centre and the CLSC de Pierrefonds offer a ten workshops support program free of charge.
